On Saturday we managed to cheat the rain and have another fabulous day out at Drusillas Park in East Sussex.
We've been wanting to head down for a few months since the brand new Rainforest Carousel opened, but the weather had made us postpone (we wanted to make the most of the brilliant play areas).
So the boys whooped when we announced we were going at last!
First stop was the brand new Rainforest Carousel, which opened in April. It certainly didn't disappoint - it's as gorgeous as it looks in the pictures. The boys loved it so much, they went on four times so they could sit on all the animals. With over thirty to choose from though it's still work in progress...
Because we were keen to check out the Rainforest Carousel we went against the park flow and started with the rides and worked backwards, having lunch in the picnic area before moving on to the play area and then the zoo.
Highlights for the boys were the camels, walk-in meerkat enclosure, the penguins and the singing crocodile, who seems to have caught Theo's imagination!
Finally we seem to be in a new, easier family dynamic now that Jude is old enough to join in with rides and explore places on foot. It meant a really lovely, relaxed day. The size and layout of Drusillas also helps - there's plenty to do but the park isn't overwhelming in size. You can easily manage the zoo, play areas and rides in a day, even with little ones.
The boys had a brilliant day and Theo asked as we were leaving, 'Can we come back tomorrow?' So we're planning to head back in the summer holidays armed with our Tesco Clubcard vouchers which we can exchange for tickets.
And fingers crossed by then it's warm enough to enjoy the Get Wet! water park and splash pad properly by then too.
We were given complimentary tickets to Drusillas in return for an impartial review. All opinions are our own. For more information on Drusillas visit www.drusillas.co.uk.
