We enjoyed a rare date night and a very special evening at Giggling Squid in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday, sampling their exciting new menu that launched last month.
We both love Thai cuisine and were in for a treat at Giggling Squid - their new menu boasts a huge selection of fresh, authentic Thai dishes that are packed with flavour.
For starters we opted for one of the new dishes, Grilled Squid & Crisped Thai Garlic - turmeric grilled squid sprinkled with crunchy fried Thai garlic cloves. And Yummy Duck Spring Rolls - all the flavour of duck pancakes in Thai pastry. Both were delicious and I don't think we could have chosen better.
Mains were Banana Leaf Grilled Sea Bass (winner of their Chef competition) for me and Khwae River Curry, another of the new dishes, for Neil. Pork in a red and green curry with roti on the side to mop it up - Neil declared it his best curry in years and I may have annoyed him by helping myself to slightly too much. My sea bass was flavourful and light, just as I'd hoped.
Determined to do a decent job of sampling, we soldiered on to dessert. Neil had the Prosecco and Muddled Berry Cheesecake and I had Jasmine and Toasted Rice Ice Cream which blew me away - you must try it.
We had a wonderful night and not only because of the food (which I couldn't fault). The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. If you want a special meal out I highly recommend Giggling Squid. And it's worth checking out their tapas lunchtime menu too.
We're looking forward to returning for Neil's birthday later in the year - he wants another helping of the Khwae River Curry...
